Give coffee a hint of Mexico by adding vanilla, cinnamon and honey while brewing, and topping it with steamed milk – Ole!
Makes 6 servings
4 cups (1 L) water
6 cinnamon sticks
2 vanilla beans, split*
1 tablespoon (15 mL) honey
1/3 cup (75 mL) finely ground Viennese or Italian roast coffee
6 packets Pure Via sweetener
¾ cup (175 mL) 1% low fat milk, steamed
Combine water, cinnamon sticks, vanilla beans and honey in 3-quart (3 L) saucepan. Heat on medium heat to boiling, stirring frequently. Stir in coffee and Pure Via sweetener. Remove from heat. Let step 5 minutes.
Nutritional information (per serving)
Strain coffee into 6 small mugs. Discard cinnamon and vanilla. Top evenly with steamed milk and serve.
* Vanilla beans can be split open lengthwise with a small knife. This adds more flavor to the coffee. The tiny vanilla seeds can be used on top of the steamed milk. If vanilla beans are not available, use vanilla extract to taste.
